DESCRIPTION
North Fork Reach Acquisition continuted to build upon a decade of success in restoring and protecting critical habitat for spring Chinook on the North Fork of the Nooksack River. Through fee title acquisition, the project acquired additional sites adjacent to conserved salmon habitat properties to protect critical salmon spawning, rearing and refugia habitats. This project continued to build upon an evolving salmon conservation corridor and secured an additional three priority north fork properties with significant frontage to allow natural processes to sustain habitat diversity, key habitat quantity and channel stability to support native spring Chinook, winter steelhead, bull trout and other native salmonids. This project targeted and acquired four proposed sites (Miller, Wildcat, Hanson and Bottiger's Pond II). Note: Hanson was funded primarily by 10-1777C and a portion of 10-1777C contributed to Bottiger's Pond as well.
